Description:

In a time of growing ecological challenges, the choice of materials in design becomes not only a technical but also an ethical decision. The workshop „Designing with Purpose“ aims to give students the opportunity to explore the significance of sustainable materials and to develop innovative approaches that are not only functional but also aesthetically and ecologically meaningful. During the workshop, there will be a focus on how we can design future products that combine aesthetics, functionality, and environmental responsibility.

Philosophy and Sustainability in Design

This workshop encourages students to view design not only as a functional discipline but also as a philosophical one. It aims to raise awareness that every material has a story—from its origin and application to its end use or reuse. Sustainable product design is more than a technical challenge; it is an ethical obligation. A new design culture is promoted, one that centers on the entire lifecycle of a product and seeks creative, sustainable solutions. The results of this workshop should be understood not only as an academic exercise but also as contributions to shaping a more sustainable future.
